we can go on and on withthis but it is a moot point. as for the quality of their products, smart parts only uses 7178-t9 aluminum alloy, the same alloy that easton uses in thier high end target arrows and baseball bats. i have seen the inside workings of smart parts, 18- $1,000,000. CNC machines all their gun bodies are cut from solid stock aluminum, same with their barrels, it's amazing how each barrel is hand tuned, when i was there, there were 4 girls and 2 guys working in the tuning rooms. every gun is hand assembled. the only part of the shop i that was off limits was where they made the circutry and everything SP makes is all in house, they don't order parts or anything from overseas. but like i said, we can keep going on and on about who is right and who is wrong. if SP did change the patents they would have been out of buisness a long time ago. the same thing is happening in the archery world with hoyt and darton archer. darton came up with a cam concept that the patented. hoyt looked at what darton did and improved on it big time changing a good bit about the design but still keeping the same concept. darton sued for patent infringement, but the patent only covered their design, not the concept. if SP has their patent worded so that it covers the concept then it is an up hill battle for everyone. i'm not looking for a fight here.

I'm not looking for a fight, but your comparison is not the same. Smart parts did not invent something, and someone else copied and made it better. Last year, they changed the patent for a dual chamber dump designed pneumatic device (paintball gun) to include the pneumatic launch of a paint projectile using an electronic switch. They had a patent, and CHANGED it to cover not just their gun, but all electronic guns. If you look up the patent (Ill post a link later) you can see the difference. The fact that they did is legally documented that it happened.

Also, the majority of paintball repair shops that fix smart parts guns deal with stripped screws and feed necks, due to low quality aluminum. IIRC, most paintball guns are made from aircraft grade 6061 extruded billet aluminum. Much harder to strip (granted, if you try, you can) by tightening a screw or hitting your hopper into a bunker.

Quote:
My point? Smart Parts is gay as hell.

Lets be civilized. Thats like the people calling SP Nazis. They are neither. What you are doing is slander, and will not help anything.

Unless you mean gay as in happy, then I bet you are right, because for now, they are rolling in the dough from licensing agreements.

I'm just stating my opinion. I just don't like the fact that a good, reputable company was hindered for reasons other than bad products or financial issues. Especially since this company has been with the sport since the start.

Ive said this before on other forums. SP has nothing to do with the National Socialist party, and using that term just for someone we don't like or agree with seams to cheapen who the Nazi's were, and I think that does a disservice to the men and women who gave their lives to defeat them. Not to mention the millions killed and butchered by a pseudo-religious Political cult, led by a madman who thought he was the new messiah.
