Let me re-phrase that..

I might be going as a practice run for an all Vector team from PA...

And there is a 10% discount for people who live 250 miles away or greater when you pre-reg. If you live in the Burgh, you live about 407 miles away from West Point, NY.

Let me know if there is anybody else interested....

Q: Can I bring my own smoke grenades?
A: Yes! You may bring smoke grenades or buy them at the game. Vendors will have smoke and paint grenades for sale.

Q: It says real Army tactics in this game, is there anyway you could tell me how to prepare for this type of event?
A: While it is not necessary to be familiar with infantry tactics, you can study Field Manual 7-8 (found at http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ ... -8/toc.htm ), which is Infantry Rifle Platoon and Squad.

Q: What type of vehicles do we get to ride in or use?
A: You will be riding in M998 HMMWV “Humvees” and 1.5 Ton Trucks. We may also have other vehicles on display.

Q: Can we bring our own night vision or will you be supplying those as well?
A: You may bring your own night vision devices, but we cannot supply players with military grade systems. Under no circumstances can you remove your mask to look through night vision devices. You are also responsible for the security of anything you bring.

Q: For the paint during the day it is $65 how many rounds are there? So lets say I use up my box of paint, since I already paid the $65 does that mean I have to buy more for that amount or are the rest free because I paid?
A: The $65/$70 paint costs are per 2000 round case. When you expend 2000 rounds, you may purchase more.

Q: Do I have to buy a UV hopper for the glow paint?
A: We will store the paint under UV light, so it will retain luminosity for awhile before fading. To maintain long-duration luminosity, however, you may purchase a UV hopper on your own or from vendors at the game.

Q: If I drive there by car what would I say to the Military Police at the gates?
A: You simply need to show a valid picture ID and let them know that you are here for the paintball game and they will let you through. They may search your car, but explain to them that everything you have is for paintball. Do not bring real firearms on post!

Q: What type of gear can I bring?
A: You may bring any type of gear you want, as long as it will be safe for yourself and other players. For more specific questions about gear, please email Jeffrey.hermanson@usma.edu

Q: Can I bring a Ghillie suit?
A: Absolutely! We strongly recommend camouflage and ghillie suits.

Q: How much clothing should I bring, and should I bring a change of clothing?
A: This will depend on the weather and your personal preferences. If it is cold or wet, you will need to bring a change of dry clothes. To lessen the impact of paintballs, you may wear sweatshirts or other similar clothing.

Q: What type of terrain is it going to be?
A: Our site has extremely diverse terrain including open flat areas, dense swamp, woodlands, streams with bridges, a lake, and urban terrain. Most of the course is tank-navigable, depending on the size and mobility of the tank.

Q: Is there going to be like a sniper team or anything like Special forces & so forth?
A: Of course! The units within the game will be based off of the units from Operation Iraqi Freedom, which include SF and Sniper teams.

Q: I don’t own any equipment. Can I rent or buy at the game?
A: We will have limited quantities of rental equipment available at the game. Please annotate that you need to rent equipment on your pre-registration form! There will also be many vendors at the game from which you can buy new equipment.

Q: I’ve never played paintball before. Can I still come and play?
A: There is no better way to dive into this great sport than to come to a huge scenario game like this one.

Q: I run a paintball site, or write for a paintball magazine or other media. Who do I talk to if I want to write an article about the upcoming game, or if I want to attend this event as media?
A: Please contact Jeffrey.hermanson@usma.edu .

Q: How many people are going to participate in this game?
A: We’re aiming for this to be the one of the largest scenario events in the country, and from what we can tell by the responses we’ve been getting through our website, that may not be too lofty of a goal.

Q: I’m in the Army. What can I do to help?
A: Talk to your peers and try to set up a team. Let people know what’s going on and point them to www.armypaintball.com . If you’re willing to lead a team on game day, please contact Jeffrey.hermanson@usma.edu.

Q: Is there cell phone reception at the game site?
A: Cell phone reception is blotchy to say the least. You may not be able to reliably communicate via cell phone from the game site with some service providers. SprintPCS, T-Mobile, and Verizon seem to work OK.

Q: How will units communicate?
A: We will have a military signal network set up for command and control of the game, but we strongly recommend that players bring their own means of two-way communication, like Talk-About radios.

Q: Will there be a gunsmith or a maintenance tent at the game?
A: Yes. There will be an maintenance/repair tent at the game site, and a more comprehensive repair and parts vendor at the command site.

Q: Will there be food concessions at the game?
A: Yes. We will offer Friday dinner, three meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.

Q: Can I use my own paint?
A: No. We are using field paint only for many reasons. First, we use the profits from paint to improve our next scenario game, so it directly benefits you. Second, paint colors mean different things. Small arms paint will all be red or white, and higher caliber paint will be different colors and we won’t be able to distinguish tank-killing hits from small arms. Third, some non-field paint stains clothing, vehicles, buildings, and drop cloth, which makes a lot of people mad.

Q: Will there be vendors at the game?
A: Yes! There will be a wide variety of paintball and military products vendors for you to peruse.

Q: I am a vendor, and want to set up shop at this event. Who do I contact?
A: Contact scott.anderson@usma.edu and he will get you all set up.

Q: I want to join the Army/come to West Point. Can I do that here?
A: There will be recruiters at the game that will be more than happy to talk to you. You will also be able to ask cadets about their experiences.

Q: Will there be security around the command site when the game is ongoing?
A: Yes. The military police will be patrolling the command site during the entire weekend.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad?
A: The game will go on, of course! The only weather conditions that will delay the game are lightening, hurricanes, or tornadoes.

Q: Who will be leading the battles?
A: Pre-registering teams and groups will have the option to lead themselves, otherwise cadet or military leaders will lead platoons and companies, as we have done in the past.

Q: Will there be medical assistance or first aid available on site?
A: Yes. We are required to have medics, combat lifesavers, and emergency plans for this event, and safety is our number one priority.

Q: What all is included in registration costs?
A: Your registration costs go to pay for the cost of the game and operating expenses. We’re spending more money on set-up and supplies for the game this year than we ever before. Everyone gets glow sticks, unit patches, free air/Co2, raffle tickets, a whistle, and a whole bunch of other fun stuff that is mostly for safety during a game as large as this. Most money goes into transportation, site improvement and cleaning, and other associated operating expenses.

Q: Will there be prizes?
A: Naturally. Lots of them.

Q: Will I be able to see the game site before playing in the game?
A: Yes. The weekend before the game, 26-28 March, the game site will be open to players who wish to scope things out. The only condition is that players will only be allowed on the field that weekend if they pre-register with the HelpingHands 20% discount, which means they will come to the field to improve defenses, build bunkers, and help to prepare the field in various ways under our guidance. This is a great opportunity to not only improve the game and get a feel for the field, but also to save some money!

Q: When should I get there? What is going on Friday Night?
A: Get there on Friday night if at all possible. We will give the operation/scenario brief at 2200 on Friday, 2 April in the movie theater at the command site. There will also be military demonstrations, exhibitions, equipment, movies, and all kinds of other fun stuff to get everyone pumped for the game. You will need a lot of sleep Friday night, as the game will not stop until Sunday morning. The game starts promptly at 1000 on Saturday, 3 April, and players will be on the game site preparing as early as 0700.

Q: Where are the bunks in relation to the playing field? Can we sleep on the playing field?
A: The bunks are indoor military style open bays at the command site, a few miles away from the game site. You may bivouac/tent/camp at the command site, but not on the game field for safety reasons.

Q: Are there going to be crazy paintball weapons we’ve never seen before at this game?
A: If they’re going to be anywhere, it’ll be here. We already have many special weapons/tactics teams pre-registered to come that have promised exciting things.

Q: Which airport(s) are best to fly into?
A: Stewart-Newburgh (SWF) is closest, about 20 minutes North. Next easiest in order are Newark (EWR, 1-1.5 Hours by car), LaGuardia (LGA, 1.5-2 hours by car), and JFK (2-2.5 hours by car). Use Islip (ISP) or White Plains only if you get a really good fare. See our travel discounts on Avis and American Airlines at www.armypaintball.com.

Q: How far is West Point from New York City?
A: About 45-60 minutes by car, and 1.5 hours by train to Grand Central. It is very easy to get to, and a LOT of fun.

Q: Are there going to be tanks in the game?
A: Yes. Probably more than you have ever seen in one game before.

Q: Will I be able to get to my car during the game?
A: Yes, but it will be at least a 15 minute trip. Parking is at the command and vendor site, which is about a few miles from the game site, and humvees will be constantly shuttling people between the two sites.

Q: How does night play work?
A: All players will be required to visibly wear a colored chem.-light glow stick during night play for team identification and safety. Shoot at anything that glows the enemy’s color. You will be shooting glow in the dark paint, so you will be able to see where you are shooting, and if you’ve been hit. The night play area will be much smaller and more controlled by refs than the day area, and will be in the urban section of the field at the MOUT site.

Q: Can I use night vision devices?
A: Absolutely, but under no circumstances can you remove your mask to look through night vision devices. You are also responsible for their security.

Q: 24 Hours is a long time! Will there be breaks? Do I have to stay?
A: Like the real battle, the game will not stop. Players can take a break whenever they want, and there will be humvees going back and forth between the game site and the command site for the entire duration of the game. You are free to leave whenever you want, but we don’t recommend it!

Q: How old should I/my children be to play in the game?
A: We have had 10 year olds come out to play before and they’ve had the time of their lives. However, we recommend that 14 and above play. It is the parents/guardians call – paintball can be painful and is tiring. During this game, players can take as many breaks off the field as they want to, and do not have to play the whole game. We recommend that kids wear padding like sweatshirts to lessen the impact of paintballs.

Q: What kind of paint will be used at the game?
A: Our goal for this scenario is ultra-realism and quality paintball. During the day, we will use Blood Red filled Diablo Heat or Draxxus Field Blaze. During the night, we will use special glow-in-the-dark paint, Diablo Dark Legion.

Q: Does the paint wash off?
A: Yes, the paint will usually wash off with soap and water.

Q: Are there showers in the bays that we can use if we buy a bunk?
A: Yes. There are open, gym style showers. No guarantees on hot water.

Q: Will there be air-canon type anti-tank weapons?
A. Yes, there will be air cannon type anti-tank weapons. We have mortars, artillery sims, bazookas, grenades and mines, all of which will be able to destroy tanks (2 grenades destroy a tank). Small arms fire will not be able to destroy powered tanks, but will be able to destroy man-powered tanks when a "hit condition" it satisfied. Basically, we chalk or tape a 1' circle on the man-powered tank, and once that circle is fully painted, the tank is disabled. All gas/air cannon velocities will be limited to reduce the risk of damage or injury.

Q: Will there be different colors of paint used to tell tank, mortar and artillery from infantry small arms hits?
A. All small-arms paint for the game will be blood red during the day, and glow-in-the-dark white at night. All mortars, mines, and bazookas will be either bright orange, pink, or yellow. Because we are limiting paint use to field paint only, it will be very apparent when a tank is hit with high-caliber fire. We will also have military-grade artillery simulators, which do not splatter paint, but rather just make the tell-tale screech and BOOM of incoming artillery. The cadet observer/controller handling that artillery call with GPS will make the judgment if tanks in close proximity have been destroyed.

Q: Do you want us to pre-register with our team preference, US Forces or Iraqi Forces?
A: You are free to play on whichever team you'd like. Generally, the Iraqi's will be more defensive and the US will be more offensive, which is historically correct. Either way, it is going to be one helluva fight.

Q: Will we be able to provide our own tank security over night?
A: You will be responsible for your own equipment's security. You will sign a waiver before the game waiving USMA's liability for injury or property. The way it is looking, we are going to have a LOT of tanks, so we may just have a tank pool under cadet guard when the tanks are not in use.
