Some good reasons why you should take care of your CO2 and HPA tanks. CO2 may not be as high a pressure, but it is upwards of 1800psi.. almost 1 ton of pressure!

They also say never to put any oil in your ASA or anywhere that could even get near the valve of your tank, if any oil ever were to get in the tank, when it got presured up the oil would have alot of presure on it and would explode, which would expand and probally cause the tank to explode.

I was recently in an expolsion, me and my manager were checking battery water levels on a floor scubbing machine, which has about 6 car sized batteries, he couldn't see the levels in one of the batteries so he lit a lighter, before i could even say anything a battery expolded, the expolosion was so loud i never even heard it just ringing, i was fine except for a little acid in my eyes but my boss had sharpnel in his face, alot of acid in his eyes, and a piece of battery had severed a tendon in his finger that he can never bend certain ways now. Anyway the entire battery was just gone, so we were probally both lucky to be alive.

A c02 or HPA tank would be alot more deadly like a morter shell going off next to you, if a chunk got inside you it would probally bounce around till there was nothing left.

Ouch! glad to hear no one was killed! Pressure is some serious stuff, all these gasses get treated like thin air.. (sorry, bad pun)

You know -- Tippmann's manual (for the A-5) says to put a few drops of oil into the ASA, replace the air canister and squeeze off a few trigger-pulls....to lubricate the internals.

Is this really that dangerous?

You are putting it in after the air source, so no. The danger relies on putting oil in the fill nipple of HPA tanks. The pressure of the air will keep the oil out of the tank if you do it that way.

Most guns, that is basic mainenence. 3 drops of air tool oil or gold cup, and you are good to go. And remember, WD40 is not a lubricant, it is a penetrating oil (actually, it is a Water Deterent, hense WD) and will eat some orings.

I heard some people were "packing" the blow out disks by putting multiple in so it wouldn't blow again, I don't know if any tanks exploded or what but apparently some PB stores stopped selling blowout disks for this reason. But as long as your tank has a blowout disk it should always go out before anything happens to the tank.

I agree. If the tank has burst disks they will blow long before the tank itself ruptures.

In the situation of an HPA tank and oil, it blows so fast that the small hole that is on the burst disk cant vent it fast enough.

It has caused a few deaths and more than one life changing injury out there.
