So whats the deal with this 300$ electro. Here's some Specs.
ION

17 balls per second semi-auto rate of fire with 3 shot burst, full auto and our Rebound firing mode.

Break-beam Vision Anti-Chop System Reliable and durable, the eyes are mounted on a separate board for perfect alignment and not affected by paint or body color. Just clean and replace (in minutes).

A Featherweight Prizefighter At 2.2 pounds, the Ion is among the lightest high-end markers made, and it’s tube design imparts an ultra low profile.

Reliability The Ion was engineered to stand up to the demands of professional players. It will outlast what used to be considered high-end and won't break down the minute you get it home.

Improved Ball Detents Approximately 10 times the service life of current detents.

Great Efficiency Expect a reliable 1000-1400 shots from a 68ci, 4500psi bottle without any modifications.

— Accuracy & Range The trademarks you expect from Smart Parts.

Body Kits A first for paintball. High-quality aluminum internals are protected by composite shells, allowing you to instantly change the color or look of your body. Tired of blue? Switch to red. Or black. Or yellow. And there are more body styles in the works...

— Feed Tube with O-Ring Seals Fits a wider range of hoppers than most guns in this price range.

Tools 1/8" Allen wrench is all you need for primary disassembly--and it’s included, along with trigger and velocity adjustment wrenches and a handy parts kit.

— Impulse Threads Take advantage of the barrels and feed tubes you may already have.

This was for all you thinking of buying an ION, Hope it helped! :D

Gong to get better support off of SP from what I understand.

The biggest complaint I have heard around about the Ion is that the main regs have a tendancy to overpressurise and blow out the solenoid. It was a 1 in 3 chance when they came out, i hope it is fixed by now.

Doesnt that ususally mean kids messing with their macro line and fittings

and like messing with the reg themselves?

no cheap regs and improperly used c02 can do that easy.

Actuall, it was poor quality control, and is fixed from what I understand.

i heard the problem with the regs were that even if you could shoot 17BPS your FPS would drop so bad that the shots went nowhere and after that it would take a while to recharge. Althought i did read that on PBreview and some of the stuff is under or over exagerated.

Take anything on pbreview with a grain of salt.. Its hard to find a review of products on there that isnt just regurgitating marketing hype.

All regs need break-in time, same for the MaxFlow. I dont know abotu the new ones, but the old ones REALLY needed to be lubed constantly.

let me clear some things up for you guys. the ions are and i say are, imo the best gun you will get for under $300 to this date. they may feel a little cheap to you at first, but i play with a $1000 shocker and had one as a back up for nationals last month. the only problem that i have ever come across was my one friend who was jerking around and broke the stock trigger cause he was being a moron. no problem, we had a few spares. they are as fast as they market them as and are really reliable.
