Post subject:  Palmer Stabilizers Question

I was thinking of getting a palmers stabilizer for my pirahna but don't know much about them, 1. is this a good idea?
2. which one would be appropriate?

I know they will let me shoot at a close to consistant FPS, but will it be gas efficiant as well?

Thanks :)

I use a PPS Stab, works great, handles the occasional liquid CO2 with no problem.

Its a good idea, it will get almost any gun shooting a consistent FPS. Do realise, it will take about 2000 shots for any decent regulator to wear in and stay consistant. Now granted, you can just shoot air for those 2k shots....

It will make your gun more effcient because it will stop some liquid c02, and it is said that every shot of liquid takes as much gas as 7 normal shots.

I've had a palmer stab on just about every gun I've ever owned, with the exception of my shocker and the sovereign I just bought (but it's getting one as soon as I get back to Pittsburgh). Can't say enough good things about them, have never had a problem with one, and I've never had anything but good dealings with Palmer's as a company.

Mine started creaping a few times, but wasnt hard to fix if you know regulators (reg seal needed oil, twas all)

so what do you think would work best for me?

Thanks :)

BTW- what's the differance between a male and female reg?

Male screws into the gun, female has a tank screw into it.

Almost any reg out there will do good, some do better than others. if you want to go PPS the support is great and the products are good.

I dont think you would go wrong with that choice. Now do remember that you will need an anti-siphon CO2 tank for it to work best.

I noticed when I chroned last week that my FPS varied by as much as 30fps or so, that seems like alot. Keeping in mind I have a low end mech spyder is a Palmer a reasonable solution or is there something maybe less effective, but MORE cost effective? Also if I went with the Palmer does it matter which type? The female is 20.00 cheaper than the male. Hmmm, seems females are always MORE expensive!

Thanks for the help,

Female replaces your bottom line adapter, your call really. It takes a bit for them to wear in.

PPS has excelent service, but you can run with other regs as well. Ive used Air America and Bob Long torpedos with no major problems, and are easy to find used. (Even though air america regs arent being prodced any more, automag seal kits work in them, and make the regs more CO2 friendly.)
