Post subject:  Ion Troubles

OK, so I just bought an ion off Ebay with a strange body kit and had the QEV it came with installed last week. I figure it might be a good idea if I knew how to take it apart  I can get to where I take the first banjo fitting out with the 1/8 hex key and take the vision harness off the body. After that im lost. It says in the directions to take the other 2 banjo fittings off with the 1/8 hex but I dont see any other spots for the key to fit. I'm also not real sure how to get the QEV off. If any of you guys can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Wish I could make it to the toys for tots game but finals are killing me. Hope to be back at riverside soon enough.

You shouldn't have to do any of that if there is a strange body on it. All you should have to do is: 1.) unscrew the 2 frame screws
2.) twist of the rear dounut on the body off
3.) use the hex wrench used to adjust the reg to unscrew the entire fireing chamber so you can lube everything
4.) reverse process
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BUT TAKING THE WHOLE GUN APART SHOULD GO LIKE THIS FROM WHERE YOU LEFT OFF:

Ok, i have an ion with a buncha upgrades and i have a NDZ QEV that is a re-pakaged clippard QEV.

The QEV replaces the middle banjo

Note-when screwing in banjos, don't over tighten then, or they may snap...just take your time. I didn't once and I stripped my banjo fitting threads off in the firing chamber...JUST A HEADS UP

1.)Once you get the banjo fitting unscrewed from above the regulator, seperate the board assembly from the trigger frame

2.)Dissconect the eye strip wires AND REMEMBER HOW IT WENT ON!

3.)Next, unscrew the rear banjo

4.)Now the QEV should be the only thing still connected to your gun, twist the entire hose/board assembly until the QEV is off

5.)Now remove the rear donut on the back of the strange body and slide the body off-WATCH TO MAKE SURE THE EYES DON"T HIT ANYTHING WHEN SLIDING OFF

6.)Lube everything and reverse process

:D Good Luck With Finals :D

Hey CJ,

I gassed up my ion the other day and noticed a small leak coming from the firing chamber and after I dry fired it the leak stopped. Do I maybe just not have enough DOW 33 on the O rings in the chamber, or do you think I should take it to punishers and have them take a look?

Also, do you know any websites that give instructions on dissassembly and reassembly of the CP regulators, or should I not touch the reg?

As long as the leak stops, its ok...but get real close to the gun and make sure there isn't a TINY leak. If there is make sure that:

1.)The chamber is screwed on all the way

2.)Re-lube the bolt and put a lil Doww on the threads of the firing chamber

If it still leaks that its probably from the QEV. Try 1, and 2 first and if you do find a SMALL leak coming from above the trigg where the QEV is (this is most likely where a small leak above the trigg would be) then just put TEFLON TAPE around the threads of the QEV

But if the leak you are talking about stops after a little bit, and you don't find a SMALL leak then you're fine.

I have a CP reg as well, and haven't touched it in a while. When i do I'm going to use:
http://store.customproducts.us/index.cf ... egoryID=17

If that link doesn't work go to www.customproducts.us then click on REGULATOR, then on TECH AREA, then click the pic of the CP reg that says "Regulator Manual"

If your are unsure on doing anything, taking it to Punishers to be looked at would be your best bet.

Lemme Know What Happens- :D
