Are there any Linux users out there :?:

A friend of mine turned me on to Ubuntu linux. This might be the very best desktop linux operating system available. Very user friendly and easy to get up and running.

If you are interested in trying linux, you can do so with the Ubuntu Live-CD. It is the entire operating system on a CD that runs from the CDROM! It loads what is necessary in memory and then runs the rest from the CD without making any changes to your hard drive. It lets you test drive it before you commit to permanently installing it on your HD.

I use it on my laptop (an old Toshiba Satellite) and it works great for doing school work, surfing the web, uploading pictures to a website, and checking email.

I tried "d**m Small Linux" and have a copy of Linspire 5.0 around here waiting for a computer.

The small run from CD linux didnt quite do anything for me, was too much of a pain to actually do anything productive.

My impression of linux has always been that it is interesting, very technical, and has thousands of programs for it. They just mostly happen to be IM, MP3 players and mail clients.
