I was checking mcarterbrown of which Azzy has made me an addict. Anywho, I saw this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 35735&rd=1" Hammer Plus and was wondering if anyone had any opinions.

Thanks,

J.T.

Hammer Plus, its a basic nelson clone. Just like a trracer or maverick, only these take Spyder threaded barrels, and have a powerfeed (on a pump.. why!?!)

I believe the plus was the powerfeed, as well as a metal grip-frame (not sure on the last part)

Decent pumps, some upgradability (as far as nelson bore drop pumps go)

Not a bad buy, if the price is right.

Do these "Nelson clones" run on 12g or on CO2 tanks like 12oz etc?

Thanks,

J.T

nelson clone refers to the valve style. The nelson part of it refers to the Nelspot 707 (1950'-1960's?) and the Nelspot 007 (late 70's through 80's). This similar valve system can be found in 90% of your single tube pumps, such as the CCI pahntom.

You can get adapters to run one on 12gram co2 carts, which I preffer because of the light weight. costs a bit more, but sometimes worth it. Plus, 12g's have a tiny bit of oil in them, and it keeps your gun running in tip-top shape.

I had one, they are a good gun but the powerfeed gets all up in your face. Try to find the older hammers because they are better built and don't have a power feed on them. You can put any barrel you like on it because it accepts spyder barrels.

Up in your face?

granted, it does block any top sighting.

All hammers take spyder threaded barrels EXCEPT the Hammer 2. That has similar threads, but the breach end is too long. Its really just a Sterling clone and quite rare.

And if you find a Hammer 3... ooooh boy, thats a good find. It was an inline semi, like an XTS. never seen one except for in an old ad, so if you find one, I want a picture :)
