The extra range often doesnt work too well, as you go further, the ball looses energy. When it does that, it bounces off nearly anything.
What the flatline does help with is shooting flat in an area that would need a nice arc to reach the distance. Say if you were shooing through a series of windows, the flatline would get through more (if they go straight) than if you shot with a normal barrel.
The flatline is also very paint dependant, if you get the wrong paint in ther, it could have a bad uncontrollable effect, or even break paint.
The Apex barrel does about the same thing, and you can turn the effect off. but with that you HAVE to chrono with the effect off, or else you will shoot hot when you do turn it off, leading to ball breaks or hurting someone.
