Are They really worth all the money?

I have a flatline for my A5 and a J&J Edge Kit. I never use the flatline because the edge kit is so much more accurate (tighter groupings).

Another guy on my team loves his A5 flatline and uses it exclusively on his A5.

It is really just up to each individual to decide if it is a good barrel for them. If you are a high volume shooter they work well because you can get a little further away and throw some paint from a safe range. But most of use do not play that style.

The extra range often doesnt work too well, as you go further, the ball looses energy. When it does that, it bounces off nearly anything.

What the flatline does help with is shooting flat in an area that would need a nice arc to reach the distance. Say if you were shooing through a series of windows, the flatline would get through more (if they go straight) than if you shot with a normal barrel.

The flatline is also very paint dependant, if you get the wrong paint in ther, it could have a bad uncontrollable effect, or even break paint.

The Apex barrel does about the same thing, and you can turn the effect off. but with that you HAVE to chrono with the effect off, or else you will shoot hot when you do turn it off, leading to ball breaks or hurting someone.

I love my flatline. In fact it's the only reason that I still have this 98. It really does depend on how you like to play. They take some time to tweak & are more accurate with small to med bore paint.

My bro has one, and he seems to do pretty well with it. I've been to a few big games, Monster and Castle, and I'm pretty much sold on them for reaching out and touching someone. But as Azzy said, the velocitiy goes down at the furthest reach of the flatline, leading the balls not to break. That other barrel, that has that little number you turn on the end is also a viable choice outside the flatline. It works about the same way.
